The Omaha-Council Bluffs Miniature Guild (OCBMG) was formed in November 1978 as a National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (NAME) charter club. Our goal is to link people of like minds in order to share our love of the hobby that captivates us. The effort of many hands, minds and talents embodies the NAME motto: "Only through sharing can we really enjoy our treasures!" |

Exhibits & Special Workshops The club strives to share its hobby with the community whenever possible. We have been fortunate to have an exhibit at the Durham Western Heritage Museum for the last several holiday seasons. Once every two years the club sponsors an exhibit and sale that is open to the public. Club members have the opportunity to exhibit and/or sell their work, and to view the work of and purchase merchandise from dealers from all over the country. In addition, this event also features a number of workshops. Typically half-day workshops are offered as well as simple make-and- take workshops. Each year, the club members have the opportunity to participate in the Omaha – Council Bluffs Miniature Guild’s day long workshop called Nebraska State Day. State Days are a NAME concept and are held in many locations throughout the country. These events give miniaturists a chance to enjoy a day of socializing with other miniaturists from our own club as well as some who travel from out of state to join us. By the end of the day, each participant will have a nearly completed roombox or similar project to take home. |
Joining the club To join, simply come to a meeting and give the treasurer cash or a check payable to the Omaha – Council Bluffs Miniature Guild for your annual dues. Annual dues for the OCBMG are $10. Because we are a National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts (NAME) club, you must be a member of NAME to be eligible for membership in the Guild. To join or learn more about NAME, you may visit their website at www.miniatures.org. Information will also be provided to you when you join OCBMG. |
Monthly Sunday Meetings Each month the club gets together for a short business meeting followed by a workshop. Meetings last about two hours. Meetings take place the third Sunday of every month at 1:30 p.m. (alternate Sundays are scheduled when the third Sunday conflicts with Father’s Day or Christmas). Meetings are held at the La Vista Community Center, 8116 Park View Boulevard from September through April and at a location to be determined from May through August. Please email the club at ocbmg@netscape.net if you plan to attend your first meeting between May and August. If you’re considering membership you may attend up to two meetings for free. If you wish to attend additional meetings you will need to join the club. |
