The Omaha-Council Bluffs Miniature Guild
The Omaha-Council Bluffs Miniature Guild was formed in
November 1978 as a National Association of Miniature Enthusiast
(NAME) charter club. Our goal is to link people of like minds in
order to share our love of the hobby that captivates us. The effort
of many hands, minds and talents embodies the NAME motto:
"Only through sharing can we really enjoy our treasures!"
Monthly Sunday Meetings
Each month the club gets together for a short business meeting
followed by a workshop. Meetings last about 2 hours.
Meetings take place the third Sunday of every month at 1:30 p.m.
(alternate Sundays are scheduled when the third Sunday conflicts
with Father’s Day or Christmas). Meetings are held at the La Vista
Community Center, 8116 Park View Boulevard from September
through April and at a location to be determined from May through
August. Please email the club at ocbmg@netscape.net if you
plan to attend your first meeting between May and August.
If you’re considering membership you may attend up to two
meetings for free. If you wish to attend additional meetings you
will need to join the club.
Joining the club
To join simply come to a meeting and give the treasurer cash or a
check payable to the Omaha – Council Bluffs Miniature Guild for
your annual dues. Annual dues for the Omaha – Council Bluffs
Miniature Guild are $10. Because the Omaha –Council Bluffs
Miniature Guild is a National Association of Miniature Enthusiast’s
(NAME) club, you must be a member of NAME to be eligible for
membership. To join or learn more about NAME visit their website
at www.miniatures.org, or information will be provided to you when
you join the Omaha – Council Bluffs Miniature Guild.
Exhibits & Special Workshops
The club strives to share its hobby with the community whenever
possible. We have been fortunate to have an exhibit at the
Durham Western Heritage Museum for the last three holiday
seasons.
Once every two years the club sponsors an exhibit and sale that
is open to the public. Club members have the opportunity to
exhibit and/or sell their work, and dealers from all over the country
make their products available to show visitors as well. In addition,
this event also features workshops. Typically half-day workshops
are offered as well as simple make-and-take workshops.
Each year, the club also sponsors a day long workshop called
Nebraska State Day. State Days are a NAME concept and are
held in different states throughout the country by other local
NAME clubs. Miniaturists from around the country as well as our
own club members typically attend the Nebraska State Day.
